Default SLP Maf resistor question

Ok so the previous owner put the slp maf on my car. I am gonn a be getting tuning software along with a cam soon. I figure I can put the truck/zo6 maf tables on the computer. I hear that people get rid of a certain resistor on the maf.

I was looking at it and I see one thing at the top of the air way, that looks like a resistor and hangs down. Is this the resistor that everyone is talking about? Do i just snip it out or do I have to make an electrical connection between the two sides once I cut it out. So is that the resistor or do i look for something else?

Anyone have any more info or a guide on this?

Leave it if you're going to tune the car. I did with my '01 and I'm pleanty happy with the numbers I saw 2 weeks back on the dyno.

The resistor is the thing with the small black rubber cylinder covering. The best way to take it off would be to get a sauldering iron, heat it a little and pull it off with pliers.

Do you have to connect the two ends where the resistor was or can you just remove it and not worry about it? I am not familiar with the schematics.

If you remove it all you have to do is transfer your MAF calibration file to your cars tune file. all the resistor does is trick the pcm

You can just remove it from my understanding. You'll also need to dial in ur maf table. Here's how: http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=671
