SES - P0141 and P0161?

SES - P0141 and P0161 ??? I started getting these codes after I added longtube headers. I know they are for my rear O2s. I still have my cats. I have to reset my PCM every couple of days to turn off the light.
Code Means: - HO2S Heater Ckt. Bank 1 Sensor 2 (and Bank 2 Sensor 2).
Would someone please explain what these codes are and why they might be showing.

Re: SES - P0141 and P0161 ??? I assume you had to extend the harnesses for these headers, correct? You may need to check the various wire connections to see if any are intermittant. If they both apply to one side, you may have a place to start. I bought 02 sim's and stashed the setup where it wouldnt get banged and only needed the stock harness length for that.
The cats still work without those rear o2 sensors. The rear o2s have no place in life other than to check the health of the cats, something you may not really need.

Re: SES - P0141 and P0161 ??? Since they are heater codes for both rear sensors you probably lost the power or ground to both sensors. Check the pink wire for 12 volts with key on, and check the black wire for ground. Probably not the sensors since both are doing the same thing.

Re: SES - P0141 and P0161 ??? Wire connections are fine. It is a regular event, about 100+ miles after I reset the PCM. Without the rear O2s you get P0140 and P0160 messages. I dont get these messages.

Re: SES - P0141 and P0161 ??? Each 4 wire O2 sensor has 2 wires for the signal and 2 for the heater. The heater heats the sensor element up quickly so that it becomes active sooner. The PCM looks for a transition from the sensor signal in a certain amount of time. If it doesn't happen, it assumes the heater did not work. The rear O2's don't do much, but the PCM does check to see if they are functioning.

I got codes P0141 and P0161 (both rear sensor heater circuit) on my 2001 Silverado 5.3L. I found a blown fuse in the under-hood electrical center. There are two 15 amp blade fuses, one for the two rear O2 and one for the two forward O2 sensors. I have yet to find why the fuse failed (too much snow on the ground to do truck work).
