Default Higher compression vs timing

I've heard from a tuner that for a LS1 street car that by raising compression above 10.5:1 so much timing has to be removed that you lose hp. He is saying that being able to keep more timing will make more power than the higher compression setup would make with less timing.

Your thoughts please

Invalid.

A Tight Engine with Higher Compression always makes more power, unless it is a nitrous car.

The Fuel quality just has to be thier. So 91-93+ is always wanted.

Good tight quench helps stave-off knock... I am running a .037 quench, a static of 11.08:1. My timing at WOT goes from 30 to 27 degrees advance, from low rpm to high rpm... Factory was 22 degrees if I remember right...

Less timing also means less combustion pressure before TDC as the piston is trying to make its way to the top of the bore. So less parasitic loss.

Depending on head and cam design, sometimes less timing actual makes more power. For example, 32 deg of timing with GM's "fast burn" head makes more power than it would at 36 deg.. It all depends on flame propogation and chamber turbulance.
