SS is a dog
SS is a dog down low. Seems like I can't get the rpms up fast enough. Is this a tuning issue? How much will gears and a pulley help? The throttle response down low is just *** slow and it makes me angry. I see the mustangs just flick a rev and I'm jealous. Any suggestions?
Never been to the track. I dunno what sotp means. I just think that it should rev up quicker than it does since it's a small block . The motor feels slow and lethargic getting up the rpms.

So, you're wondering why the rpms don't come up quickly on a nearly stock car? The lid/catback is a good step in the right direction for bolt-ons. The '99 M6 I had didn't do half bad with just those mods. But, the best I could run at the track was 105mph in 13.4 seconds on a 2.0 second 60-foot.
In my opinion (and don't take any offense to this because we're not all John Force), it's driver error assuming all is mechanically sound. If the rpms aren't coming up fast enough, you're either in the wrong gear or your bogging it off of the line. Even near-stock LS1's shouldn't feel like you're waiting for v-tech to kick in. If you're used to driving an LT1, it is a little different having your torque curve shifted up a quite a few rpms. But, you still haven't lost any ft/lbs. If anything, you've gained a few.

My 99 SS vert kicks A$$ with just a lid, filter, and ported TB. With the tune on, it's even more so pimp. Seriously, mine just gets up and goes...scares the wife sometimes.

I would just suggest bringing that thing to a dyno and posting up the chart for comparision to other stock dynos and you'll see if it is lugging for some reason. lots of info you can use there and doesn't cost a whole lot i think to just pull down numbers. It is definitely a motor that likes to turn RPMS to make torque!

how long have you been driving this car? and what was your last car?
im still unsure if you mean that it is revving slow all of a sudden or you just got the car and these are your first impressions.....
and being a small block has nothing to do with how it revs..... you are throwing around 8 cylinders... not 4.
i have a fealing that you are bogging the gears.....
more info needed.
I have a simple theory. Check to see if the TB cable is hooked up right. It's possible that there is slack in the line and when you floor it, you're not actually "flooring it." Try figuring out if it's something simple like that before you start messing with other items.
