Smile Street tuning and dyno tuning?

Hi, I'm a newbie and was wondering the difference between the two? I'm trying to put this Cam ,specs are: 218/228,558/558 lsa 116 in my 99 ls1 TA M6 with the ls6 intake. I want to pass the bullshit CALi smog. What do you guys think I should get street or dyno, I really don't know the difference. plus i'm on a budget and want to know what's the cheapest i could go . Also i need to know what the price is from high & low to get a tune. Please help!!!

u need both.

street tune assures daily driveability and 14.6 or equivalent part throttle. dyno tune gives you peak WOT hp and tq figures for drag racing/racing.

a tune is a tune. a pro should charge 1 price for tuning and do it all.

street tune would be cells less than 70kpa manifold pressure... dyno tune is cells greater than 70kpa... so do you want just 1 or both?? the answer is both. you need both tuned.

yeah i agree that you need both. if you can only afford one right now, the go with the street tune so you can get the streetability dialed in, and then worry about fine tuning it on the dyno. but like ZL1Killa said, a good shop or tuning person should do both for you. usually most of the work is done on the dyno and then the street tune just to make sure its tolerable for daily driving.

a tune should consist of street and WOT runs. Thats what I do with the cars I tune.
