Any confirmation of successful case learn?
I know the process to do the case learn.
When I start, the dialog box says "ready".
And when I finish, the box reverts to "ready".
But at no time did it say "finished", "successful", "ok", or any other variant of success.
The first time I tried it, the P/N rev limiter was set too high, and it kind of freaked out the pcm. I got "vehicle is moving" and "rpms too high" error messages. So I lowered the P/N rev limiter and quit getting those messages.
But it just goes back to "ready" which makes me think it didn't work.
(and I'm still getting a CKP code too)
This is after swapping all my parts over to a fresh forged shortblock.
I don't want to get a new crank sensor to throw at the problem if I just haven't done the case learn exactly right yet.
Is the lack of an error message the only confirmation I'll get?
a.) you get something like "ok" or "done"
or
b.) you just get sent back to "ready" and no error messages
never would go, on account of an EVAP system code
(that would not show up in EFILive or Predator scans
or SES, but the TechII dug out).
Crank learn should go by itself and not need forcing,
if you have Crank Position Not Learned code then you
may have a background problem like I did. The Not
Learned code is kind of backwards from what you'd
think, not a crank position problem but a problem
that prevents the learn from going. CKP high/low
signal errors are another matter, more likely electrical
/ sensor damage there.
I remember looking it up both times I got it, and the description said something about a problem detected "for less than one second". The first time I got it, I hadn't done a learn yet. The first time is what prompted me to do the learn.
I tried searching for this fragment of a code description, but this board's search and the hptuner's search discard the terms "less", "than", "one", and "second" so that didn't help me back into it... I'll doublecheck tonight and post it up.
Did find another post that suggested you may have to try the case learn up to 3 times to get it to "take".
It's beginning to sound like there is no confirmation message at the end of the procedure. Just the lack of error messages at that moment, and the lack of a code being set later.

P0335 - The PCM will set this code if no crank signal is received for less than 3 seconds.
P0336 - Will set if the PCM receives no crank signal less than 1 second.
I would check the voltage to the PCM side connector with the Ignition ON.

When it runs the test successfully it doesn't show you any "OK" or "done" dialog - if it didn't error out during the test it probably worked and you just need to shut the key off to store the data to the PCM.
Hope that helps...

Getting the p/n rev limiter brought down helped a lot...

Now that all the holiday commotion is over, I can get back to it.
