Creader shows an "E"....anyone else have this?

Creader shows an "E"....anyone else have this? Guys,
I bought a Creader (OBD II) and it works fine, showing legitimate codes for known problems. However, I just removed my fuel tank to install new pump....plugged the reader just to see what it would show.....it doesn't show anything but an ...."E".....and nothing else.
I'm assuming "E" stands for Error....but just curious to know if anyone else on LS1Tech has experienced this and/or knows why it wouldn't show a specific fuel pump error code?....
