Lets hope so. Since the new pricing scheme came about there is no advantage to going with HPTuners.

The credit system we use allows the user more flexability then any other product on the market...you could tune up to 4 individual LS1 based PCM's or mix & match with our Real Time Tuning Custom Operating systems, etc. Not to mention now you can just order credits online at any time so YOU the end user can choose which cars/trucks to tune rather then having to know ahead of time what you'll be tuning. For instance me over the last couple of years have had a 98Z28, 00 GTP, 99 Buick Century, 98 V6 Camaro & I've tuned all of them & with the credit system there would be no further cash outlay other then the initial purchase

Why do you all insist on saying yo need to know what type of vehicle needs to be tuned before buying credits. EFILive doesnt work this way Tunercat/Edit yes but EFILive no. The licenses you buy can be applied to anything that is supported at the moment and if my memory serves me correct we were the first to implement a credit/licensed based system and have reaped the benifits of all the flexibility it has to offer. From V1 until now it hasnt changed a license is independant of the vehicle type, model or year and can be used to tune anything available by the package. If anyone wants to buy 12 licenses with their inital purchase of the software they can do so without worrying about what vehicles they will be used for and from inception if the user wants to convert at a later date to a Worshop version these credits can be applied to the purchase of a Workshop version or a Stream

Ya, since going with the credit system we've:

given away more licenses with initial purchse
Added a single vehicle license option at lower cost
Lowered year/model license cost compared to 4+ on serial interfaces
Added upgrade paths from single vehicle to year/model
Added upgrade paths from year/model to unlimited vehicle group
Made it possible to apply VCM Enhancements at no additional cost with your base order

General - Licensing
• Flexible credit based system (Credit FAQ)
• Single Vehicle licenses
• Year/Model licenses
• Vehicle Group licenses
• Easy upgrade path from Single Vehicle to Year/Model licenses
• Easy upgrade path from Year/Model licenses to Vehicle Group licenses
• Free unlimited software upgrades for life

Here are some examples taken from our FAQ:

General - Licensing Samples
With your VCM Suite order, you'll receive 8 GM credits. If 8 are not enough, you can purchase more at any time. With 8 credits though, you can unlock licenses like the following:
• 4 LS1 Single Vehicles
• 2 LS1 Single Vehicles and 1 LS2 Single Vehicle
• 2 LS2 Single Vehicles
• 1 LS1 Year/Model and 1 2 Bar VCM Enhancement
• 3 LS1 Single Vehicles and 2 1 Bar VCM Enhancements
• 1 LS1 Single Vehicle and 1 2 Bar VCM Enhancement with 4 credits remaining!
• Many more configurations possible!
• (Licensing process example)

Basically, with the credit system we've lowered prices and increased options..

It costs more to get two unlimited years than before. If you drop your years down to 4 credits.....it would be back where it was.

That scenario is the ONLY scenario that increased price, and that case is also very small.

As with serial interfaces, once you purchased your two additional year/model licenses, they then costed MORE than they do with the credit system.

If we dropped it down to 4 credits, it would not be back to where it was, it would be even lower!!! Remember, year/model licenses INCREASED with serial interfaces after the 4'th.. People did not like this, they voiced their oppinion, so we lowered the cost .

I was talking about our old year/model licensing system where you had to choose the two year/model licenses at initial purchase, but if you insist on arguing a moot point your stream licensing still does the same thing OUR OLD licensing did except at a much higher amount of $

Also efilive doesnt offer vin to model upgrades only vin to stream

single model/year lock with hpt=$300

Stream with efilive=$2500

It just ends up looking like a perceived price increase, but once you've purchased 4 model/year licenses its the identical price & after 4 you save $100 per model/year license that you purchase so in the long run it will save you money if your considering tuning others for $

That's no comparison though, their $2500 is EVERYTHING (non-ls2).... The REAL HPT price for the same number of unlimited VIN vehicles is quite a bit higher.

With EFIL it's EVERYTHING LS1....

I'm not a pro, just a guy, and I wanna be able to tune all LSx F-bodies without dumping another grand into this.

-edit-
Guess I waited too late, doesn't look like the 232 version is for sale anymore

Frost, your best option would be to add the 02 license for $199 since that would be your fourth, then upgrade to the MPVI Pro interface for $199, then add the 98 year/model for $299.

thats why it would probably be in your best interest to upgrade to the USB version, you'd be able to take advantage of our vin to year model upgrade pricing, personally what I do is pcm lock 2 vehicles & then on the 3rd I'll just do the upgrade to the year/model license seeing im doing several of them. That way you don't have to spend $200, $300 or $400 right off the bat for a year/model license & can grow into the year unlimited licenses

I'll likely add a 98 license for $199 and be done with it...

I can still do RTT with the serial cable, right?
