SES Light on my LT1...diagnostic software questions.
Driving to the gym today and when I got in the parking lot the SES light and my fan popped on. No other problems, so I glance at the gauges...Everything's fine. So it stayed on for 2 or 3 minutes and then shut off about as I pull into a space. Fans shut off as well. The car's temp was under what the fans normally turn on at.
So I go inside and lift. Driving back to my apt. it happens again. I drive the last two minutes to my apt. and park my car. Shut it off and start it right back up. Light and fan still on. Shut it off again and waited about ten seconds. Fire it up and the light's off.
WTF? O2 Sensor going bad or something? I gave it enough gas to downshift into first from 25 when the light was on the second time and it felt as powerful as normal.
I do have a USB to ALDL cable, but all I've done is lower fan turn-on temps 5 months ago.
What programs can I use to check to see what code it threw???
I'm going to do some searching tonight but I wanted to see what ideas people had about what could be wrong.
I would appreciate any help. As of last week, fluid levels are all good...I'm checking over everything tomorrow morning. In the cold. And snow.

#32 EGR system fault.
Glad it's not a big deal. I'll look over the system tomorrow. Might just rush the header install.
Nothing as far as EGR goes should keep me from driving the car correct? If something's faulty there, not too big of a deal?

Thanks for the heads up. I'll take a look at it tomorrow when I look over everything else. It's been as cold as it's been the past couple days since I've owned the car if that could have anything to do with it.
P.S....That IS in the PCM under the hood correct? I've yet to have to deal with it.
I appreciate all of your help on this too.

Make sure the knock sensor module cover has the green rubber gasket on it. If not that would be the culprit. the only reason I even mention this is the fan behavoir and the fact that its pretty much raining cold *** ice water everywhere in america and the module cover is in a position to wick water in the case given its orentation to the cowl.

I can't see any problems with the EGR system or the knock module as Sean told me to check.
There shouldn't be any problem leaving it alone for a month or two until I put my headers on. Is this correct? I can't see how a malfunctioning EGR system could really hurt anything.
