Default need some help from lt1 tuners

Im trying to get everything toghter for my car. Its a '94z w/ obd1. Trying to get things toghter. 1st i buy this cable.. http://www.aldlcables.com/ . 2nd i get a laptop. Now the cable says it comes with free softwear. But how does this process actually work? I plug in the cable to my computer then my car. Then what? This is where i get lost. How do you actually "tune" the car? Im guessing when you plug in the computer to my car it shows how my car is running. Then drive it around and log everything on a file. Go back and read that file and see what to change. Then change what i want then download it back to my computer? Or am i totally wrong? I was reading on that site and said ill need more programs to burn my computer. I do have good computer skills so im not worried there and can read what the car is doing from past experience's. How do you actually go about re-flashing my computer when i make changes?

There are free scanners/software for OBD1 LT1s that will work with that cable, but you are going to have to buy something like Tunercat and that cable to edit the PCM. Use Google.

No you shouldn't need two cables. You will need two pieces of software. One for scanning and one for tuning. I use data master for scanning. Tunercat is a popular option for tuning.

Correct tunercat is what I have. I also use datamaster to log what the car is doing. One cable, I got mine from http://www.akmcables.com/index.htm
