Trouble Codes and Reset HELP ?

Trouble Codes and Reset HELP ? My sons 98 Firebird V6 has been running like its only on 4 cylinders.
I took it to AutoZone for the codes to be pull from the PCM
the codes are as follows:
p0404
p1404
p1870
p0305
p0405
I have since changed the #5 Plug and Wire. Which helped alot
I then disconnected the battery cables and waited 60 secs or so. and reconnected them
Turn the key to the start position waited 10 secs, then started the car.
BUT The SES lite, remains on, and never went off after the reset.
This should have gone off if infact the PCM was reset ?
any help on this and the codes would be appreciated.

obd2 is much different then obd1
Also i doubt those codes will go away just with changing a plug & wire.
You've got all kinda goodies mixed in
P1870 is a transmission component slipping code
p1404 is an egr code
p0404 is an egr code
p0405 is an egr code
p0305 is a missfire code on #5
so it looks like you fixed one issue...next up, EGR...then onto the tranny one...autozone MIGHT clear the codes for you but it might be time to invest in a scantool of your own

Don't think disconnecting the battery for only 60 seconds is going to reset the PCM and clear all the codes, plus some set immediately and some need to see a failure over a couple checks/ignition cycles. Not sure if the V6 is the same but you can try this and see what happens:
Turn key on, don't start car
Pull PCM BATT and PCM IGN fuses in engine compartment
Wait 5-10 min
Turn ignition off
Replace fuses
Probably won't do anything for the EGR codes if they come back, but the P0305 and P1870 might be related, misfire causing the TC to unlock or something??? Like the previous poster stated, a scan tool will help tremendously.
