Default ls1edit crashes, searched, found nada...

I have ls1edit 1.20, I have a new laptop with Winxp, celeron, 1gb, blah blah. ls1 edit.exe and ls1prog both crash on execution... no window ever shows up. I've done usual tricks (copying dlls to folder, etc) and nothing is allowing these POS programs to run. Anyone have this problem? Read the carputing site, looks like 1.21 has win2k sp4 support... I've tried running the program on a virtualPC emulation running windows Me, windows 98, none of these work... program still crashes... I do have it running on a really old POS laptop w/ windows Me... so it leads me to believe it's probable that hardware is causing the issue since it will crash in a VM of WinMe. ... but wtf.

Anyone have this symptom and has a work around? Me thinks I need at least 1.21 :/ Trying not to spend anymore money on this project.

Oh yeah, this is the error I get... no help, but ...

Unhandled exception at 0x00000000 in LS1prog.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000.

So nobody has experienced this problem? Do the carputing people still exist? I went to their website and it still looks like the page they had in 2002. Sad.

Have you installed the original program first and then the latest update you have?

If that doesn't fix it, then go here to fix your problems

I had the same thing happen on my Laptop and home computer. The problem seems to be from DLL's mixing from before/after the update. Uninstalling it doesn't help.

It works on my tuning laptop (old as dirt) okay though.

Yeah that's the weird part, is it will work on my old as dirt laptop as well, but that thing takes 20min to download a damn bin file. No lie! 166mhz pentium with 64mb ram. lol.

I did the original install, crash. I upgrade to the 1.2 ver. I have, crash. No luck. I tried different scenarios and OS versions, all crash on this particular computer... Note the software also crashes on my desktop computer (dual xeon, 2gb mem, etc) I notice it was written in VB6, and I can confirm other VB6 programs run fine on my PCs. It's almost like the library carputing used to encrypt/encode their executable is not functioning properly. That'd be my guess.

Confirmed, it is a software issue.
