just as of today my iac is acting up... i was driving home from the shop, beating it pretty good, get off the innerstate, and get to a light and it starts surging pretty good, and i can hear the IAC letting air move thru, but it keeps doing it and when i start to give it gas (while in drive) i can still here it letting air in. is this just a bad IAC?
do you have a tuner (Hp Tuner/ Efi live). What sound are you referring to when you say "I can here the Iac letting air in" ?
i cant hear the IAC, but i can hear when it opens and closes, (cause its just a valve), when i left the light its like it stayed open didnt close at all, and when i come to a complete stop, the revs jump up to 2k -2500, sit there for a second then drop down to about 1100, and it surges from there, but i car hear it open and close, sounds like a massive vacume leak, then the leak goes away for about 10 seconds then comes back.. if it starts doing it again ill get video of it, and maybe you guys could give me better input.
i dont have hp tuners, altho i have a buddy that has it.

The IAC is a valve but its not just open or closed, there about around 300 steps in between too. Its a stepper motor. If you can hear it opening, perhaps its getting stuck or something.
only when i stop, i also noticed today that once the car warms up it does it, but only surges from 1k - 1500 rpm, and keeps doing it every 10 -20 seconds..
Definatly has to be the IAC, if you have not ever messed with the TB. Has the TB been tampered with ie set screw, drill mod etc...?
well i just got the car up and running with the LS1, the TB has been ported, drilled, and im pretty sure that the screw has been adjust, (not by me tho)..
their could be your problem. I myself would need a scanner to diagnose the problem, you may find someone else that can figure it out without a scanner.
