cooler intake air
(but doesnt necessarily mean cooler cylinders)

maybe longer life of the intake gaskets

3 extra hp

yea..no real advantage
If you delete it your computer will still think you have the egr

I just want to elininate a variable.
I'm not sure it's 100% tight - if not it would cause idle issues and a loss of boost.
The boost loss is not a problem, but I have my WB in the passanger exhaust and if some air goes throu my tune is worth a sh**

I see a lot of people eliminate the EGR and I wanted to know why...

i'm an ls1 newbie and was wonderinf if removing the egr is as simple as just actually removing it and blocking off where it was? or is it more involved than that? i'm picking mine up wed and its going in an old chevy truck, don't want any clutter that i don't need

That's it; and turn it off in the PCM so you don't have an active harness that isn't connected to anything. Turn off it's error reporting also, though I don't think you'll hook up a service-engine light in your swap

Don't turn off the EGR, delete the system physically-weight savings, clutter, and re-utilize the function by making a custom PID for a fuel pressure sensor and utilize the 5volt source and voltmeter already in the factory hardware/software. I bet most modders are more concerned about monitoring fuel pressure than worrying about emissions.
