Default Throttle-by-wire using F-Body PCM?

I've got a 2001 LS1 motor. I've looked at the wiring schematics and it doesn't look like the harness has any pin outs for the throttle control (either in from the pedal or out to the throttle stepper motor.) Am I right in thinking that I'd need a Corvetter (or custom) harness to make my PCM do throttle-by-wire? Or is there a way to hack the F-Body PCM?

Thanks,

-ch

As an example, a 2001 vette PCM uses Blue 14 & 15 for 14 Throttle Data.
14 - TAN 800 Throttle Actuator Control Serial Data

15 - ORN/BLK 1061 Throttle Actuator Control Serial Data

I believe those positions are not used on the F-body PCM.

You will need a vette pedal and a TAC. See the attached picture. HTH.

Yep, on pg. 1367 of the F-body manual, it states that pins 13-16 are not used. Since the PCM connector is sealed, looks like I would need at minimum a new harness plus the pedal and throttle body.

I appreciate the help, thanks!

Why bother?
Your new Pontiac G8 will have a 90mm ETC anyway

You can just punch the terminalls for the tac module into your stock f-body harness just use a small pick to perforate the silicone.

Tamu,

Just want to be clear about what you're saying:

1) remove plastic cover on top of 80-pin harness plugs
2) Poke hole through silicone sealant over desired pins
3) And then....what? Jam a wire in there, or is there some way to solder/crimp the wire in place?

Are pins 14 and 15 the only ones I need?

Thanks!

We offer the electronic throttle upgrade harness for $175 if you need it. It includes all of the required wiring for the PCM, throttle body, and TAC module.

Well if you either buy the harness or scrounge it out of a salvage yard harness after you pierce the silicone you simply slide the pins in from behind and they lock in place in the pcm connector.

the pcm will still need to be programmed to turn on the ETC control.

John: Thanks for the info!

wait4me: Good point--I've got HPT so that's not a problem.
