Default Bs3 - No Spark!!!

I purchased the BS3 from LTHOMER, so I'm assuming that all of the programming is close enough to at least start my car. I have communication with the computer but no spark. I double checked the crank and cam sensors and they are correct. The coils have power and ground. Can anyone help out???

Lightbulb A search..

that I just made, in this forum, using " BS3", produced many pages of posts. I didn't read them, but with the volume, there may be a few ideas for you to follow up on..

Make sure the fuses are in the battery leads first, one of them does the ignition I think.

Other then that make sure the power you are using for the 'key on' also has power when its cranking. Some circuits in the car turn the power off when cranking. The BS3 will stay 'active' as long as it has battery power but wont produce any spark if that small wire isnt getting power when cranking..

I spoke to John from BS3 today - he's familiar with the person I purchased mine from. John says that the computer was programmed for an outside crank trigger not for an LS1 - it has to be reconfigured for an LS1. He didn't have time to walk me through it but that I could send him the computer and then he could do it.

I don't understand - couldn't I just get a new program to download via internet? Is there anyone that I could give my spefications to email me one (I'd pay for it) - I just don't want to start from the scratch- I'm more of an engine builder than a computer guy.

I already pulled the computer out to send to John, but I appreciate you trying to help. Since I didn't buy this from a company I get the cold shoulder. That's what you get for taking a short cut.

Thanks again!

This damn thing is driving me crazy - I got the computer back from John - put it back in and nothing. Called John...he said that I had no rpm's to check the crank sensor and then I realized that the bs3 plug for the crank sensor (abc) when plugged into my crank sensor actually plugged into (cba). I reversed it but I it didn't work. I bought a new crank sensor today, installed it now I have rpms on the dash but it still won't fire up. I 've put the car on charge overnight because I kept losing communication with the bs3. Any ideas on how I can tell if the cam is wired right (without pulling the intake)? I have made several attempts to contact LT1Homer to see what was done different to his car, but no service after the sale I guess. So I'm on my own. Maybe, if I'm lucky after charging the battery it will start up in the morning. I'll let you know.

BTW, I did tap into the crank pin 'a' for my factory computer and my modis reads rpms, so that's a good thing. Thanks for the tip!

wow, wonder how the other guy ever had it working.. changing the map plug for 3 bar etc. is standard cuz it comes set up for the stock map sensor

sounds like your battery was dead. let the car charge, and then connect with the car off, verify that the tune did not blank out, possibly reload it, and try again

you should be letting it crank for several seconds longer than it took the stock computer to get it running also

the cam plug should be wired right unless you had to convert it to ls2

your tune has to be close enough for it to work. did anyone look at that for you yet?

I tried to start it again this morning - spun it over for about 45 seconds and did not lose communication with bs3 - rpms were around 400rpms, but still nothing. Does anyone have any idea what LTHomer had for an engine? He told me that the only thing that I had to change back was the tps and iacs because he was using a Ford throttle body, but now it seams that the crank sensor was different too - I'm trying to start the car on his basic tune because bought the bs3 and the 96lbs injectors, so maybe it's the tune?
It'll take me 4 hours to pull the intake to check the cam sensor. What a waste of time.

i dont know if you have a stroker crank or not,but some of them, lunati in particular just would not give you a clear (read).i checked your profile ,but i couldent tell what type engine you have,lt1 ls1.the early lunati cranks for an ls1 just wouldent read correctly.i had to go to a (wheel)to get mine to work.believe me that took a while to figure out!hope this helps.

I finally got it started - I'm not sure what happened - I spun it over for a while and it started. It seams to be running good and it starts up everytime - most importantly, all of my guages are reading properly (Thanks to Mighty Mouse).

Thank you everyone that put in their ideas!

I'll keep everyone posted on how it goes. I'm hoping for 900rwhp.

cool man

i dunno how long it has been down, but if you have been cranking for a long time, you might have some gas in your oil and need to change it.
