Default Best tape/wire for wiring

Who sells the best tape and wire for rewiring a harness? I've used the stuff @ autozone and it doesn't seem to like the temps, gets hard and cracks very easily. Any other options?

Radioshack has all kinds of wiring, and the good black electrical tape..

Also AutoZone has that black convoluted tubing used to cover most of the wiring...looks like stock.

Thumbs up

Take a look at this site. They have the correct wire for your project....
The good automotive wire has a cross linked poly jacket, and is available w/ various jacket wall sizes. The cheapo wire is just that, cheapo, and not worth messing with.
For tape, we use the stretch type, self sealing. Common electrical tape is not the right tape, as it will become sticky when hot, and lose the glue. This makes for a nasty mess.
Shrink sleeving is also a method we use to enclose wire bundles...

For electrical tape I've always found 3M the best. They
have some different grades but all of it seems to be good
quality. "Unbranded" electrical tape is "iffy".

3M '33' is the good 3m tape.

I try to not use tape, but heat shrink.

I try to avoid using tape and always solder then cover with heat shrink tubbing. You can get double wall heatshrink with hot glue inside. This will provide a thick and watertight seal. For wire as mentioned before use only the cross-linked poly. All of this is best ordered for a supplier online, you won't find it at most stores.
