Default 2bar SD w/ HPT: BIZARRE problem...please help!

Twin turbo install is done in my 2005 GTO, and so I reflashed the ECM w/ the 2 bar SD file Martin "Street Tuner" from Australia [builder and tuner of GenTT twin turbo package in Australia] which was for: LS2, Walbro 340, 60# injectors. I had to register my HPT for a 2006 Monaro [as well as my GTO], as that is what the file was built in, as well as the 2 bar SD upgrade from HPT. I could have simply upgraded the 2bar OS and cut and pasted files, but that's water under the bridge at this point.

Complete re-write required in order to install the 2bar OS, so I did that + tune in one step. Start car...dumping HUGE amounts of fuel. HPT showing MAP at 200kpa, which means it is seeing the sensor maxed out. Well, we hook up the shop scanner [Modis] and it shows 10v!!! Obviously that is impossible as it is only fed 5v [which we verified w/ a VOM]. Unplug the map and the car runs okay, plug it back in, and initially it is okay, and the voltages are varying appropriately for a car pulling decent vacuum. After 30-60 seconds, it goes haywire again, and runs MASSIVELY rich. This makes sense, as it shifts to the 200kpa cells in the tune thinking it is seeing massive boost, so all of the add'l fuel is added.

We tried a different sensor yesterday with the same result, so clearly it is a computer issue. By the way, this is the SC Cobalt sensor that plugs right in to the manifold and harness in the LS2.

HELP!!!

Summary:
  • Re-flash computer w/ 2bar OS upgrade and swap SD tune from an LS2 in a 2006 Monaro
  • Computer keeps "reading" 10v from the MAP sensor
  • Unplugging sensor with the car still running resolves issue briefly, and it is okay for a few moments upon plugging sensor back in
  • Swapping sensor didn't make a difference.

Sounds more like a wiring issue then a computer, let alone software, issue. You may want to follow the troubleshooting steps defined by the GTO service manual.

Burn in the original program and do a basic tune closed loop for the GTO OR start from scratch with your own custom 2bar os.

I'm suspicious that you might have something funny
about the Monaro OS / 2-bar HPTuners OS combo.
The bogus MAP reading (10V) says there's some odd
math exposed. It's not clear to me just what went into
the PCM but the description suggests you stuffed the
Monaro base to it?

I would suggest picking up a stock GTO tune for your
model year and applying the 2-bar OS to it, straight-
forwardly and then use the compare differences, copy
differences functions to pull over the "good stuff" from
the Monaro tune. At least see if MAP reading raw returns
to a 0-5V signal.

But I don't have any experience with 2-bar yet and you
should dig around for any such "features" a bit more
before taking my advice on this.

thats what im thinking...I've read about issues when people use a "starter" file that isnt of the origonating file.
