Default Tuning for M6 to A4 swap on 98.

I am in the middle of doing an M6 to A4 swap on my trans am. I have a donar car (both are 98's) and it is a straight swap (all parts including wiring harness etc.). The tune on my M6 car is perfect for my TR224/longtubes/etc. I have done a search and didnt uncover to much. I was wondering what is the best way to change the tune with my HP Tuners. Should I just do a re-write entire to the M6 computer with the Auto cars bin, then upload the calibrations only from the original M6 tune? Or should I just copy and paste all the trans tables from the A4 bin to the M6 bin? I know I will need to do some final adjustments for Idle, etc. Both cars are 98's I have heard that swapping tunes is slightly different for the 98's rather than the 99+'s. Thanks.

Well I really dont wanna swap out the PCM. The other car has a bit more miles than mine and I would rather stick with my computer. What other options do I have. It cant be that hard to just reflash for the A4.

i think the miles are stored on the dash not the pcm, not sure what other options there are. i would try to change everything to the way it is on the a4 pcm

I know the miles are in the gauge cluster I am just refering to wear/tear etc. I would rather use my PCM and just reflash cuz I have had the car forever and never had any PCM issues. I dont know about the other car.

I would just flash a full image reflash with a A4 file, note: be careful to make sure the full image file your using is not corrupt, or you will kill your pcm.

If it was me doing this swap, I would flash it with a tech 2 as an automatic, and then change your vin back to the correct vin with tuning software.

So U think I should just take the 98 auto bin and flash it onto my M6 computer, then change the vin back to the correct vin? What should I do about the tune for My cam, longtubes etc, just copy and paste all the tables?

I'm not sure how hpt has it to save changed values between tunes. The software I use, I Can save all the values change from stock, and then load them onto a new correct stock file for the automatic vin number.

Why not? everyone has there own preference. With the performance of stall converters out there there is definately no reason not to (performance wise). I have had auto's and manuals before. I have had the car (M6) for many years and being a manual it just lost its luster. I found myself driving the car less and less. The combo with racing clutch, as well as other thing just made it less fun to drive after time. There is to many stop lights and to much traffic where I live and not enough open roads to have fun with the M6. In the end its a combo of many things and I know the switch is the best for me.
