Default BS3 2 Step

On my BS3, I can not get the 2 step to work correctly. The 2 step wire is getting 12V+ when the button is pushed. On my set up screen I have a place to put 2 step hi and 2 step low. I talked with someone and they told me to put the 2 step limit I wanted in for the hi value. However when I do this, nothing happens. On some BS3 screen shots, I have seen a actuall cell that says 2 step value that is under the low and hi cells. Here is a screen shot of mine. Do you all have any suggestions?

Make the low smaller, I put it like 400rpm less then the high..

I cant make your pic out, it looks like both are at 10000rpm, thats kinda high lol. Have to make sure the 2 step wire is getting 12v also naturally.

Checked the 2 step wire and it is getting 12V when activated. I'll try the 400 rpm gap in it tomorrow and let you know what happens. They are at 10,000 now, just because it wasn't working and put them back above the regular limiter.

Ok so I set it at 2000 hi and 1600 low. The limiter holds the rpms right at 2500 like that. I thought it may have been my tach off but I check the rpm in BS3 and it reads right at 2500 when its bumping off the limiter. Any ideas why its off like that?

log it and see where its at, I just looked at my logs and at 2500/2100 on the high/low side it bounces between 2730 and 2300, thats 5030/2 = 2515rpm average which is pretty close..

hmm... I just went out to log it and see and now its not working again lol. The wire is still getting 12V and nothing changed since I checked it this morning. I have a volt meter clipped on the wire to check the voltage. Maybe its inside the box? My replay also has never worked from day one and that wire is getting 12V also and is set up correct in BS3 to work, but it doesn't. This has me completely confused.

make sure you are going above the throttle % for the replay to start and also the time slider has to be above zero to work. As long as the pin for the replay has 12v constant it should work. Also have to make sure you have the DAI option

I dont think its a problem with the box if ithe 2 step works and then doesnt, make sure the changes 'stuck' on the config for the 2 step RPM. Worst comes to worst send an e-mail to the address n the BS3 website. They are good at getting back fairly quick.

Yeah the box has the DAI option, or at least the invoice shows it lol, and everything is set up correctly. I've been talking with Kurt about it for awhile. The 2 step config all looked right when I checked it again and I even tried changing the 2 step to new values. They were saved every time I reopened the config window. I may try emailing the BS3 website email and see what they suggest. Everything seems right.

Thanks for trying to help me out with this KP.

It will be checked right on the box if it has DAI, only other thing I can suggest is look at your battery votage. Make sure it isnt dropping too low with the car running, it doesnt like under 12v.

13.4-14.3V while the car is running. I wish I could still see the back of the box to check it but its way up under the dash now.

Where are you located?

I believe that Don Bailey is handling all BS3 customer service now. Do you have his email address?

Just wanted to update this thread incase anyone searches and finds it later on. The problem was that the BS3 2 step only works for coil on plug ford or LS1 configurations, not sbc distributor set ups. I wish someone would have told me that back when I spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong.
