Exclamation Restting trims without a scan tool?

1. I know I can leave the battery +and- for a while and wait for the system to drain, is there any way to make it drain faster?

2. Ive heard touching the positive and negative cables together without the battery attached will drain it faster, kinda like a capacitor for car stereos.

3. "but my preference would be to discharge the system on an output side of a module ... not the B+ side ...

What happens if you have a circuit that has a capacitor and is preceded by a diode? It won't discharge ... diodes act as electrical "check valves" ...

Use an output from the module to discharge"

This one came from another forum and I was wondering what they might mean by module?

Any ideas.

Until I get my new scanner to reset fuel trims I'm looking for another option.

Thanks Guys

This will reset the PCM, including all the readiness tests, idle will be grumpy until it relearns:

Turn key on, don't start car
Pull PCM BATT and PCM IGN fuses in engine compartment
Wait 5-10 min
Turn ignition off
Replace fuses

disconnect the negative battery cable, then step on the brake pedal a few times and turn the headlights on... this will drain any residual power that is left in the system.

The trims will reset the second that power is killed from the pcm. If you unplug the connector on the pcm it will be reset by the time you screw it back on.

I would still disconnect the battery cable too though, so nothing arcs when disconnecting or re-connecting the PCM power/plug and have it get zapped.....
