Default Any way to tell if knock is false or real??

I did some logging yesterday and I'm getting some knock here and there. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason it will just pop up here and there. The car is a big solid roller and I was curious if it could be false knock. It seemed to be very present at idle and then just here and there. One spot was 8 or 9*.

if happens in or around 1 cylinder in particular i would look into it, but other than checking plugs or reducing spark timing to see if it goes away, i dont see anyway to verify....

If you got something like Torco unleaded race gas concentrate and dumped a bottle in it would get you a lot higher octane than the typical 4 count booster out there. http://www.torco.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=163

That would give you a pretty good idea if it was real or not.

Another vote for trying high-octane fuel. Octane rating is a measure of knock resistance. Put the highest octane fuel you can in there. If you have 'sane' timing and still see knock with the improved octane, then I would say it is false. Or, go drop several thousand into some pressure transducers.

You can:

Pull a few degree's of timing and see if it goes away.
Throw a little more fuel at it (not the best way, but it usually works).
Run the tank almost dry and add some racegas (as mentioned above).
Physically listen for it.

Octane booster doesn't work. You'd have to add like a case of it to make a noticable difference.

By looking at your setup I would delete the knock sensors completely. That is if you know the tune is good.
