Default Using Cags As A Shift Light?

I saw on LS1.come that someone had figured out using LS1Edit how to make the Skip Shift light come on at certain RPM's, thus acting as a shift light. Anyone done this or is it even legit?

Cags is controlled by MPH not RPM and only for 1 set speed.
I do this on all customer's car's I tune but having the Cags light
come on at a speed they want to make the last shift before the end of
the 1/4 mile.
Light goes on at speed I set it and then off at another speed.
This controls the light but the cags relay is not functioning.

Yeah,
But I take it one step further! I enable the skip shift so that at 55 mph it locks out 2nd! This way you can't go into second over 55mph. No 3-2nd miss shifts on my car! I figured this out a week after I got edit. I have had great luck and so have the cars I have set it up on. It’s kind of a nice safety.

Have fun

Great idea! I'm going to do it as soon as I'm up and running again.

I have heard of drag cags, but did not know LS1edit could control that...umm...

Lets add one more tally mark to the reasons to buy ls1edit..

I was planning on doing this also, but do you have to change any other values?

Such as TPS%, or Load in Kpa?

Thanks!

GREAT idea!

If you could market that with some quick download or something that didn't cost much, I think you'd make a grip of money. (For folks like me that haven't spent the $$ on LS1 Edit, etc).

I won't be doing it until tomorrow, but I plan on changing the enable speed to 50 mph (I have 4.11s), disable speed to 200 mph, enable load to 0 KPa, disable load to 1000 KPa, engine enable temperature to 0 deg, and %TPS to 110%. Since I run a 160 deg T-stat, CAGS is disabled most of the time just because of temperature with it set to 172. That should take everything except vehicle speed out of the formula.

now your skipshift light would always be on past 50. You need to set your engine load enable to 90 and disable at 101 (or anything above 100) that way it only happens at WOT.

I don't think that's a good idea since the moment you ae shifting, you are not at WOT. This will not bloack out 2nd under most circumstances. It will work if you ONLY powershift through your gears....

This is true. Another thing worth noting is the engine load for this feature is measured in Kpa, not percentage, so a setting of 101 probably would disnable it before WOT.

Alright then, I forgot about letting of to shift. How about disabling at 60 mph or a mph where u would surely be in 3rd, that skip shift light sure would get on my nerves late at night. Also, Isn't the max MAP load 100 Kpa. I have never seen a diagnostic run go above .99Kpa. I figured the given 100 Kpa number was perfect world conditions.

Well, there must still be something I don't understand about it, I can't get the skip shift light to come on no matter how I edit the PCM. The only time the light comes on is during the lamp test when you first turn on the key. I tried all combinations of parameters discussed above. I guess the next thing to try would be reloading the stock flash file.

I did quite a bit of experimentation with this today . . . it seems to disable it's self after about a 4 second delay no mater how you set the parameters. I don't think the skip shift is re-armed unless you come to a full stop and start over.
