Default Jumpy needles, ses, and higher idle in park.

Any comments are appreciated guys. This is kinda weird but ive noticed the needles in my car like to jump sometimes. The fuel, and oil pressure in particular. Nothing that REALLY concerns me but I would like to know what it is. The temp. guage also goes past 210 degrees at times but I had the radiator and everything checked out and flushed and they said nothing is wrong with it, so I kinda ignore it. My SES light comes on sometimes and goes off. The last time I got it checked at autozone they said it was an o2 sensor. I'm guessing thats still my problem with that. The other problem is sometimes after a drive I put it in park and the RPM's jump to about 800 rpm's idling instead of the usual 500. Im losing gas mileage so maybe it needs a tune up and is just acting weird? Anything I should worry about? Thanks ahead.

What are your mods? Do you have the LTs yet? You definitely have a problem that needs to be addressed. Melted O2 wires from a LT mod gone bad seem logical.

no LT's yet but im trying to get some. Just a LM, 3.73's, and a trans cooler. Ive done some research on here and 800 RPM's seems normal. I think im going to Seafoam it tomorrow. I havent done that in a while.

A4 or M6? Stock cal on A4 ~600rpm; idle M6 ~800rpms...big difference.

Whenever you encounter electrical problems like that step #1 should be to thoroughly clean and tighten battery connections and grounds. I always recommend that you don't ignore anomolies like you're seeing - lest you really have a problem, and wind up ignoring it.

Listen to your Daddy. How old is your battery? Alternator? Are you pushing a sound system? You don't want to get stuck on the wrong side of town.

9 times out of 10 jumpy gauges indicate a ground issue. Like said above, start with the battery and work out - clean the cable ends first and check ground connections on the block and heads.

Thanks for your help guys. It's an A4. It doesnt jump to 800 all the time just sometimes unexpected. I'll have to go and check some grounds etc.. now just to be sure. Everything doesnt make me worried but I know it's never done it before. The car has the original alternator and a battery thats about a year old. It's also throwing a p1415 code now.....whats next? haha

Clean your grounds - be sure to remove both battery connections and clean them - check that the 15mm bolt (ground wires) at the back of the of the left cylinder head is tight.

Reset the PCM when you've done all the cleaning and checking and see what you have.

Default grounds

I agree, check all grounds first.I once had a speedo inop due to a bad ground.
Always check the basics first.

If the grounds check good, there has to be an intermittent short in the sys. Best thing for you to do would be to find a schematic and locate the common wires.
