Problem Getting EFILIVE V2 to work on my car

OK so i thought it was the unit itself but i plugged it in to a guys car at work and it worked fine.
When i plug the v2 into my car(98 z) the little lights below the screen light up and stay lit, you can see them flickering abit. But the v2 does not boot up or the screen even come on for that matter. It's like it freezes up as soon as it trys to cut on. is it a problem with the pcm or the diagnostics port. any help would greatly be appreciated.
