Question What idle setpoint for 226/230 111+2?

Eventually I am going to reassemble my car. I am shipping Wait4me my PCM tomorrow morning. I do not want to discuss mail-order vs. dyno. I just want a tune to get me in the ball park for now, including adjusting for my 42lb-hr injectors. Mods are basically full bolt-on’s and H/C/I. Cam is ~226/230 on ~111 LSA advanced ~2 degrees. That translates to ~6 degrees overlap @ 0.050. I am not certain what idle setpoint I should request. The cam was ground a little larger than I requested, and an aggressive lope at idle is not that important to me. Mild manners are. Search has not helped me much. What do you suggest. Thanks in advance.

No lower than 850. 900 would be good.

For that kind of tune, the higher the better. I'd go 950.

I appreciate the feedback SSpdDmon and CW00BlackTA. I will contact Jesse (wait4me) Monday and see what he thinks about 900 or 950. After reading through some search results, it appears setpoints vary between 750 and 1000. I do not know much about tuning and wanted some feedback from others to compare against what wait4me suggests. Thanks.

Jesse knows his stuff pretty well. He should set you up nice.

Jesse does know his stuff, but idle speed and smoothness are pretty subjective. What's acceptable to one person may not be to someone else. The 111 lobe separation is going to make things relatively lumpy at just about any reasonable idle speed (relatively being the operative term). I'd try 850 as a starting point. If you don't like the idle quality, all you have to do is step on the gas pedal, bring the engine up to an rpm you're happy with, let Jesse know and you can send the PCM back so he can make the change. On the other hand, if you start with an idle speed of 1000 rpm, you'll never know if you could have gotten by with a lower speed.

I have a 233/233 112 and have my idle at 875. I did have it at 950 but lowered it a little.

Not that our cams are comparable, but how does yours sound at idle? Any problems with stalling? How much of a difference did the 75rpm make?

If you get efilive off him too he will be able to send you tunes from your logs. Means you dont need to keep pulling the ECM if it needs a bit of tweaking.
