to the original poster...are you going to let him know that the car has been detuned? if he does know, you run the risk of him getting the pcm flashed back to stock without your knowledge. If he doesn't know then he might find out the hard way and end up loosing to a damn import! Either way, if your concerned about his safety then a good idea would be to let him have a v6 trans am for now. Or maybe even consider one of those driving courses that was suggested earlier. Either way good luck

An idea. Instead of giving his son a WS6, he should get him an old 3/4 ton pickup.

1: He won't be able to race it much as they are already limited to <100 MPH, and 3/4 tons are not notoriously fast anyway.

2: The crummy handling and lousy brakes will teach him more about driving than a car so well tuned it practically drives itself.

3: If he does get in an accident, the heavy metal and lots of crumple space will protect him a lot more.

4: Dad can always borrow it to haul things. If son protests, dad can threaten to haul a load of manure in it.

dood i had my z28 when I was 16 and took it every weekend to illegal street races and did 150 in it the night I got it, limiting top end speed is a great idea, i should be dead. Now im smart enough to not do this crap, still have same car and just turned 22, but a 16 yr old, hell no!!!

COOL... How do you accomplish that quickly?? Do you have to have your laptop, or do you use a handheld?? And are you talking about dropping off with a mech or valet?? Just curious!!

After I drop it off I reflasht he PCM (have my laptop w/me at all times)

Then when I pick it up I reflash it.

Anytime I drop it off somewhere that they shouldn't need to be driving it other than in and out of the shop I'll flash it. Only time car gets dropped off anywhere is when it's something I can't do myself or don't want to do myself lol No way would I ever trust a valet at hotel/restaurant/etc... w/the car.
