Does anyone know how to fool this 8 cyl tach to thinking its a 4 cyl? The readings are correct but cut in half. I am now using the #10 wire.
can I take a tap from the injectors or the coilpacks and series them with the #10 wire to fool the tach?

Isn't the tach driven by the PCM in these cars? So you would want to modifiy the signal somewhere between the PCM and the tach. You wouldn't want to fool the PCM as well by changing the signal it sees. I don't know whether the tach reads a digital or analog signal, but either way you could build a simple circuit to cut the reading in half.
