knock sensor code and 4*knock!! HELP
Yes, i got both codes on the knock sensors, low bank 1 and 2, so i replaced the knock sensors, and whoo la, still comes back along with the 4* knock, im down and out, i dont know what to do!
I recently relocated my coils and now have a weird noise coming from the tranny/ds area i havent got to look at yet, just for some background, i could maybe think up some possiblities for the knock, but the sensor codes again have me baffled!! Anyone with a tadbit of info help me! I want to just shut off the sensors! The knock of coarse comes anytime i press down on the peddle, like more than 50% throttle, and the knock goes from 0-4 and stays there...
any help, suggestions, and questions are all wanted, thank yoU!

I bought my wiring harness at the dealership. I had to splice (solder) the two pigtails into the stock harness.

I bought them because I wanted to go ahead and replace everything while I had the intake removed. I think they were around $12 apiece.

Re: knock sensor code and 4*knock!! HELP
I had the exact situation as you (both KS codes), twice actually. The first time it was the wiring harness (part # 15372170); the second time it was burnt KS pins on the pcm.
Before you pull your intake, do a visual check of the pcm first. I forgot the pin numbers for the knock sensors, but there's a schematic in the Helm's manual, and probably one floating around here, or ls1.com. Good luck!

Wow, good info predator! Ill look around for it! How did you fix the ks pins? How did you see it was burnt? just check the voltage?

Re: knock sensor code and 4*knock!! HELP
I went to the pcm pins schematic and located the pins for the knock sensors; I looked at them on the pcm and saw that they were black and burnt looking. Then I just barely touched the pin and it broke off. I had to buy a new pcm and have it flashed. I think it was $200.00. I sent my core pcm to Lyndon Wester and he sent me a new one with the leatest GM flash. If you find that your pcm is hosed, email Lyndon (Wester's Garage): nwester@eidnet.org. He'll take good care of you.

if you get water under your intake from say excessive pressure washing it can short both sensor wires and fry the harness or the pins on the pcm. hopefullly you can just by the pigtail from a dealership as above. there is a service bulletin from gm about this problem and i thik the fiz was to put grease on them or silicone or something like that so water couldnt get to them again

That's exactly correct Dave. I know from experience, too. And yes, GM does have a TSB for waterproofing the knock sensors by laying a bead of silicone around the rubber boots, and removing the foam under the intake.

I hope I haven't given the wrong impression with the pcm digression. I'm 99% sure it's just the wiring harness, but for that 1%, it can't hurt to just check the pcm before pulling the intake.
Good info, Dave, you nailed it.

Re: knock sensor code and 4*knock!! HELP
It's easy. You disconnect the knock sensor harness from the main wring harness near the firewall. Just disconnect the connector. Then you will have the knock sensor harness in your hand. Measure the new wires against the old and cut and replace. I reused the sleeves and clips from the old harness. Once you get the harness off the car, you'll see what to do, it's simple.
