Default Where is the Evaporative Vent Solenoid?

Installed a roll bar, now it's throwing a SES, P0449 Evaporative Vent Solenoid Circuit Fault. Does anybody know where this solenoid is located? I don't have a shop manual for the car yet.

66ImpalaLT1,
Thanks for the fast response and excellent picture, BUT I believe the one you are showing here is the EVAP Purge Solenoid. Apparently, there is also an EVAP vent solenoid somewhere. If I unplug the one you show in your pic, I get a different code: P0443, EVAP Purge Solenoid Control Circuit.

Oh, then its under the inner fender liner on the left rear. Near the gas tank.

Nope, I just looked there. There's just a hollow cavity were it used to be on the LT1 cars. (I do have a LT1 shop manual for all the good it does.) After following all the hoses, fuel lines, and wires, it appears the solenoid I'm looking for is sandwiched between the fuel tank and the floor pan . . . I hope this isn't true, what a PITA.

How nice of GM. Sorry, I'm more familiar with LT1 f-bodies than LS1's. Just trying to help

On 2001, 2002 F-cars, the Evap. Vent Sol. is on top of the fuel tank (you have to drop the axle to drop the tank to get at the solenoid....);

Well, here's an excuse to get new trailing arms and a new torque arm.... or even a new axle....

Thanks for confirming my suspicions, joecar. I just got done welding a pair of roll bar mounting pads to the deck directly above this area, so I bet I fried the solenoid with the welder. Before doing the welding I dropped the tank about 1/2 inch, but maybe the solenoid was still laying against the metal. I've already had the experiance of dropping the axle when I replaced it with a 9 inch; what a PITA!

Well just as a follow-up, here's what I found: the wire bundle under the left rear seat had a cut in it from when I cut a hole in the carpet to go around the roll bar. Unfortunatly, I didn't find this until I had already dropped the fuel tank and looked for problems there with the EVAP vent solenoid. On the up side, I found that the fuel tank can eaisily be removed without removing the rear axle. You do have to remove the cat-back exhaust, though.

Okay, this is a good shortcut to know... thanks.

Wow I didn't expect to see this old thread come back to life! Yeah, I just let the axle hang with the wheels off the ground, and slid the tank out over the top of it. Went back in the same way, and wasn't nearly as difficult as I expected. No more problems with it since. Thanks to all for the help.
