Truck vs FBody
What are the differences between the Truck and FBody versions of the ECM and program?
My situation...I am planning on swapping a T-56 into my 00 Tahoe and ideally would like to use an ECM with an 00 Fbody VIN burned-in and the Fbody maunal harness. I already run Fbody injectors and I hope that the coil pack connector is the same. I want to get the separate IAT sensor.
The various tuning programs appear to be different for trucks and Fbodys, at least they claim to sell different versions for each. Is the hardware the same or are there subtle differences? I believe the PIN assignments may differ at the ECM or am I wrong?
I am going to be doing significant SD tuning anyway so I'm not too concerned about the stock Fbody tune. There should be very minimal if any controls on the T-56 from the ECM. Gearing and tire size can be changed.
Do I lose my gauge cluster? Maybe ABS?
Anybody have any experience or thought on this?

Considering everything like your guages and such, i think youd be better off using the Operating system from your truck, and trying to segment swap in the manual transmission segment from a like operating system, would allow you to retain all functionality of the vehicle's systems, and run your manual.

Trucks with cable throttle, and F-bodies '01-'02 seem to have used
the same PCM P/N and OS (Express van, non-HD pickups and F-body).
Trucks seem to have some "duty" based differences. There was the
tow/haul ("Performance" mode in trans settings) switch, PE is held
off a while and ramped in slow (bad for performance, meant for
towing fuel economy I guess), burst knock retard is over-eager and
will steal performance in lower gears, etc.
Pick up the '01-'02 OS as it has a few niceties over earlier ones.

thanks for the reponses......
Couple more questions:
1) Can this transmission egment swap operation be completed with Edit?
2) Does a manual trans harness from an FBody directly swap over to a truck (plug & play)?

Buddy of mine with a Silvy we're considering swapping a T56 into and I just talked this over, basically the only thing we could think up is to use a 4.8 Silverado ECM out of a Silverado that came with the 5spd from the factory. That ought to keep everything in working order.
Do you have any info on the t56 conversion? We can't find much.

No sorry. Try EFIL's forum. Maybe someone could be convinced for a little cash to load up a swapped seg file with a bench harness and then read the file back with HPT or LSE and have them email the file to work with. For a paypal "donation" I know a tuner on HPT's forum who does it sometimes. He is not sponsor so I cannot link him, but if you PM me I can get you in touch with him. He got me an F-bod file with 4l80e support.
