I use XP Pro on my Dell Inspiron 3500 and it works great with ls1prog. My laptop has a real serial port, not using USB.

You use the "LS1-Edit" interface to open and edit the files; you use the "LS1prog" interface to download your flash file and to upload your edited file. When you download your flash file, it's good idea to make multiple copies saved to floppies. Also, I would document any changes you make to your flash file with either "Notepad" or "Wordpad" in Windows Accessories, and save a copy of that document to a floppy disk too.

Check out http://www.usedlaptops.com.

I did use the LS1 Edit interface so i can edit the the flash.ls1 file but it did me an error message. So I tried it again and it still gave me an error message. So i really dont know whats wrong.

Have you had a chance to figure out the error message as yet... when does the error come up .. at what point.. is the *.LS1 file the same segment ID/year as the PCM you bought LS1edit for??

I got the .dll error too on my HP laptop running XP home SP2. Typical damn Winblows... I'll try uninstalling SP2 and see if it remedies it!

Well, perhaps I'm mentally handicapped, it took a good night's sleep to figure out what my problem is, as it was the first thing that popped into my head when I woke up... Here I am... Not even thinking twice on my P4 HT 3.8 overclocker desktop I built reading the forums thinking "I have a fricken Intel chip, and it specifically says it won't work on AMD-based systems, so why won't it work on my dang laptop?!" Well, here's the damn punchline... I keep going out to the car with the laptop, an HP running a fricken AMD Athlon XP 2800+ wondering why in the **** it doesn't work. Guess late nights and lack of sleep are really catching up to me... I'm going to install on an intel-based laptop and see how it works out for me. Sorry to waste the fricken posting space! Good luck to the rest of you.
