Default GM Tuner

my friend just got a new z06 and found a tuner in the back of the car that a tech forgot about. It says GM Tech 2 tuner. I was thinking about purchasing a tuner to change fuel, shift points and what not. Would this style of tuner work for that or should i not mess with it?

It's worthless for tuning. It can only flash a PCM back to stock. You should just sell it to me for $100.

Yea, go to Ebay and search on GM Tech 2 and see what a gift you got. But it still won't do what was in your original question.

Yea, those are usually owned by the dealership and if one comes up missing it may come out of his pay. You can also bet he is going to remember where he used it last.

Exactly... can you imagine if the poor guy that left it was in a tight bind financially with kids to feed and a morgage and the dealership took 3 gs out of his pay?

It does not take anything away from your life to give it back, but it could seriously hurt someone elses.

That guy is so screwed. A Tech 2 is about 4000 new and modules are in the 1000s.

They go "cheap" for a used one on ebay though. Still out of the range of the average person.

I would take it back. You can't do anything with it.

He should take it back even if he could use it.
It's the right thing to do + the person who forgot it could get in trouble .

They're serial numbered. If he sells it and they find it, he could get in trouble.
Returning it is the right thing to do.

Wouldn't it be a felony since its over $500? I think under $500 is a misdemeanor if it where to come back to him?

+Eleventy to the above! Take it back. Hell, they might give you free oil changes for life or similar for your honesty (not that you should do this to try and get compensation, it's the right thing to do)!

I agree!

Dude, that **** ain't cool....I had the same **** happen to me. I accidently left a GM required Tool ina guys Truck, and he found it and kept it. He told me he kept about 2 years later, when we met in a Grocery store. He didn't think it was that funny after I told him that my Service Manager (at that time) held me responsible and I had to pay the Dealership $650.00 for the damn Battery Load Tester.

So be stand-up guy, and if you ever find a Technicians tools in your vehicle, take em' back to they guy. We have to make our living by working or your ****! Would you want us to take your walllet if you left it in your car while we were working on it?

Don't be a Douche!
