FAST 92 installed- MAF or SD Tune?
I originally posted this on LS1GTO.com, but thought I'd probably get more response here. Anyway, here's my story.
I installed my FAST 92 intake and 90mm TB Friday night. I was working on the tune Saturday morning, and during my second WOT pull the hose blew off the intercooler outlet.
I've been planning on going N/A again anyway and picking up a good set of heads. The hose coming off was a good enough excuse to pull the Procharger this weekend. As I was working I started thinking about the puny little 78mm MAF and K&N CAI I was about to install in front of a 90mm TB. The K&N tube will fit inside the FAST TB. It sounded like a dumb idea to me, so I came up with a plan.
I decided to build a 4" o.d. Hardcore style cai, and go to a 1-bar SD tune. Luckily, O'Reilly Auto can get all the parts for the intake overnight and I can put it together Monday.
I might be wrong, but it seems leaving the small MAF (not to mention the screen) would basically take away any benefit of going to a larger intake/throttle body. You can't flow any more air than your biggest restriction allows, can you?
I was just wondering how many people running the FAST 90 are still running a MAF and how many have gone SD?
