Need Quick Hypertech Answer!!!!!
I have a chance to purchase a used programer for my S10 for $75. The owner says the stock tune was returned to the truck it was bought for, Can i now use it for my truck? Or will it still be "VIN locked"? I am going to plug it into my truck when i go to purchase it to make sure it works. But if someone can answer my questions by 3:15 today that would really help!!

if the other truck has been returned to stock, it will work fine. just make sure and test it out before you use it if possible. If not, then you just have to take the guy's word. You can send it in to Hypertech to be unlocked, also.

I got it, and loaded in the firmer and higher shifts. Worked great except now i have a random miss at idle, and i DID NOT load in the engine tune. When i put it back to stock, no miss. Any ideas?

you don't have a choice in loading the new "engine tune." It does it automatically if you're messing with shift points, etc. You get either:
A. 100% stock
B. Hypertech ignition / fuel map + whatever else you change
That's why they're inferior, IMHO, but it was the cheapest way for me to correct my speedometer for the oversized tires.

Gotcha. Well, that was not possible with the programmer I had. I think your best bet is to call the good folks at Hypertech and ask questions. Most people on this site stay away from handheld programmers.
