ok the senario is i heve a silverado with a built motor. h/c and the lift on the cam is .591. I put my truck on auto tap and am seeing 8 kr at idle and the least was 2.02 at 3500rpm's. it stayed between 2-3 through the run shifting at 6000rmp's. I am asking how to track down the knock. the timing advance ranged from 8 to 26.5 being the highest. my a/f ratio started at 14.7 then dove to 11.8 for the whole run. also the truck seems to hesitate some times but not all the time.

So how can i reduce knock?
what should the a/f be?

what happens if i try to use edit on a locked computer? will it not work or will it mess something up. edwright did some mail order tunning and i know he locks the pcms but wanted to know what would happen if i pluged edit in?

any help would be greatly apreciated. i feel the truck is lacking alot due to tunning. but i run it hard and don't wamt to blow it up if something is wrong.

A/F fill start at 14.x closed loop but under
power enrichment / WOT should be a little under
13.0:1 for best power (like 12.8:1) and this will
keep knock away most likely. 11.8:1, and knocking,
is pretty odd but there's a chance that there's a
gross lean condition and the COT cat overtemp
protection is what's flooding the mixture. This
should be an abrupt dive at somewhere like 4500
RPM (with an auto on dyno or track you might not
fall back below 4500 once you start, so it might
be hard to distinguish). The LTFTs are your best
indicator (on an unmolested PCM) of whether you
have any fundamental mixture calculation error
(like bogus MAF etc.). But with a mail order tune
I can see plenty of potential for this to not be
an unmolested situation. I think probably you
ought to get in touch with the tuner, tell them
the problems, get the right ATAP data together and
have them re-fix the tune right (if they give any
kind of guarantee, free re-tune etc.). I'd guess
the current tune is just not right for your combo.
