Default Need Help With Tune

hey guys, just wondering which of the two i should do..

I have a 383ci procharged lt1. Im running 8 lbs on it with stock injectors and maxing out fuel. I can go with option a which is to take it to a dyno tune shop and have them charge me like $600-700 or get a pcmforless.com mail order tune for $175. My friends are telling me that i will be leaving alot of hp on the table if i go with the mail order tune but i hear nothing but good things about them. I just want to save money but still have a sick tune..Either way i will be upgrading the tune, i just want to know how much worse a mail order tune is than a dyno tune. I will be giving the guy a list of my mods for the mail order.

What do you guys recommend? (p.s. pcmforless is like madz28)

Spend the extra money for a dyno tune. That way, you know it's tuned right.

Buy bigger injectors first. Your stock 24.9 lb injectors will never supply enough fuel no matter who tunes it.

Iam no expert but even if you get a mail order tune you will more than likely have to get a dyno tune for optimal performance. This is mainly due to the fact that no two engines are alike, even when they have the same mods. I think your best bet would be to go to the dyno. By the way where do you go to get a $600 dyno tune? I would do it for much cheaper.

From my experience with several dyno tunes, several mail order tunes, and tuning myself I have found the mail order tunes generally superior to dyno tunes. I thought one dyno tuner was excellent. What I would do is to get a dyno tune to rough it in, you will see what I mean, then get a mail order tune or two and see how you can fine tune it. You will need to datalog and dyno it yourself at a local dyno run to check your work. Not easy, but extremely rewarding. It may take several months if you have extensive mods, so be patient and apply good scientific method.

Contact my business partner, Alex, at www.PCMperformance.com

He's in NYC and will do a dyno AND street/driveability tune for you at a VERY reasonable price. Dyno tunes are great for wide open throttle A?F adjustments but do little for driveability where you need it the most.
