got a 2000 ws6 that i like to tune. i wondering if there is a hand held programmer that can let me change a/f and timing and tune it in right while i'm doing dyno runs. and something that will show me what my a/f is and other things. is there anything that will give me in the ballpark or better than complicated software programs like ls1edit or will i get better results if i send my pcm to a performance shop to get custom calibration.

No handheld or mail order tune will get you as close as a dyno and street tune done with a quality software package such as EFILive or HPTuners (this is where they start marketing their products).
Stay away from LS1Edit, stay far, far away.

mail order can get in pretty close. dyno can squeeze a couple more.
do some search and read in the pcm section for a couple weeks. if you are still reading you may be **** enough about cars to tune your self.
hand helds don't get it for gear heads.
get in the same cosmic interlude as your car.
geez did i just say that?

Not only are there newer, better packages out there, but support from the company is very poor, compared to HPTuners and EFILive. And when you get going, you will see how important support will be.
