Default U1000/ ECT not working

No ECT.

ECT is seeing ~5volts, sensor has resistance so I don't think its broke, swapped it anyway, getting a U1000 code (but not an ECTcode).

Cleaned the PCM contacts with electrical cleaner stuff, checked the grounds (ECT is grounded to the PCM I think, I reached back and checked the grounds on the back of the head but I think more would be haywire if a PCM ground was not grounded).

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I sorted it out. The return wire to the PCM was shorted somewhere. It was getting voltage to the sensor but nothing back at the PCM. I just ghetto rigged it, cut out the sensor and spliced new wires in.

It was weird because I didn't think a U1000 code would pop for the ECT.
