Default Tachometer error

Since having my car tuned, the tuner said that i should take the car down the track to find the shift points so he can raise them. It was shifting at 6100, aqnd the peak powers at 6600 on my car. So i told him and he changed it to 6,700 or so he says. Taking it down the track it still shifts at 6400. Is there a small error in the factory tachometer or what. I dont know if i should get it raised even higher or not.. I dont want the tach to read 67 or 6800 but rele have it spinning to 72-7300 on a stock bottom end. But i also want it to shift at a true 67 or 6800 rpm. ANyone have any imput on the situation?

My tach is high by almost 300rpm. I've seen about as many off as I have that are accurate. In addition to being wrong, it can also read slow, especially in low gears where the engine is able to wind up quickly.

The only way to know is to use a scan tool to monitor RPM.

If it can provide feedback of engine RPM while you are driving I suppose it would work. I've never used the Diablo tuner. Maybe someone more experienced can chime in.

If not, maybe you can meet up with someone local who has Autotap/EFILive/HP Tuners.

My tach is crazy slow in first 2 gears (M6)(500-600 rpm slow). A lot of folks use a simple shift light, or aftermarket tach to show them the real engine rpm.
