OBD1 you can gather codes manually, its been a long time since I've touched an obd1 fbod but check out thirdgen.org for info on their codes & how to retreive them.

If it needs power from the DLC port check your fuse that powers it, if it's like the LS1 cars it's the CIG/ACCY fuse. '93 was the last year you could flash the light manually to retrieve codes.

'94 does not have power in the OBD1 connector (use a cig lighter or battery for that part), nor will it flash codes with a paperclip.

What scanner did you buy? Is it a smart scanner? If it's just a dumb code reader, it probably won't work.

its the $199 scanner thats updateable. i forgot the name. here is is: http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...egoryCode=3389

so what would i have to do to power the DLC port? i know the cig fuse works because the lighter still heats up.

although your car has a obd2 style plug it is not obd2. it is obd1 and the paper clip
trick will not work .
unless you have another car to use it on take it back and get your money.
they are commonly called obd1&1\2

i have the 12 pin port. it came with a 12 pin OBD 1 cable for GM. the instructions say compatible with the 94-95 f body.

so if this thing wont work, how would i be able to get the code?
