I have recently installed a hypertech max energy programmer and smooth bellows on my 1998 Z. Monday my SES light came on, when i got home i plugged up the hypertech and read the codes, P0102, and P1416 i have checked the connections on the MAF, and the sensor in the airbox. My car is also equiped with a Whisper lid and my MAF is Descreened. I dont think the descreening has anything to do with it because it has been descreened for 2 months with no problems. if any one can shed light on this problem it would be much appreciated.

 

P0102 - Clean the MAF. It's probably dirty.

P1416 - Something is up with the car's Secondary Air Injection. Check your hoses going to the air pump and to the headers.

 

what do i need to clean the maf with.

 

You can buy a spray to clean the MAF at your local parts store. You can also look up the codes for your year at gearchatter.com to see the description/diagnostics for each. For P0102 first thing I'd check is the ENG SEN fuse, for P1416 it's usually just a clogged passenger side secondary air check valve.
