Idle problems after Converter install.
Car is stalling at low rpms mainly when turning, or at low speeds with the a/c on when stopping. The car idles in gear at 600 rpms. When it starts acting up the tach bounces beween 400 and 600 rpms.
The car would not idle at all after installing the converter. I had to hold the throttle to keep it running, after about 2 minutes it seemed to be ok.
The new converter was much lighter then the stock converter. Could this be causing the problem?
Will this require a tune?
Is there a simple way to idle up the engine permanently?
Any help will be appreciated, thanks John.
and can make the idle loop unstable. Especially if it's also
fighting some other issues like rich idle mixture. You need
the idle loop to respond faster. More idle spark advance,
a better setup on the adaptive spark (stock tables can
be prone to "crash" idle as they quit advance beyond a
certain RPM-error) and bump up the base airflow so the
idle loop fights to bring it down, not fights to keep it up,
will all help with stalling. I also raised my idle RPM to 700
just to make life easier.
This all wants tune adjustments.
