Default Tuners?

What makes one tuner ie person better than others? Everyone I've talked to says oh this guy is the **** or that guy is the ****. With the basic knowledge of tuning using the various software versions out there what makes one person better with adjustments? What variables make that much of a difference?

I guess for me it comes down to availability/price/distance. I haven't had any issues with the two people I've had tune my car so what is "the ****" scale based on?

There are hundreds of tables in the pcm/ecm software, a good tuner does more than just wot fueling, and spark.

Find out how much time they will spend on driveability and idle tuning, as these are the things that drive people nuts after a not so great tune.

WOT tuning for max power is the easy part......

Thanks
