Default 99PCM w/ custom harness.didnt come with alt. plug/wire & I have 1...where does it go

Ok the stand alone harness I got didn't come with a the 4pin plug that goes to the alternator. I obtained the plug off the original wire and it only has one red wire coming out of it. Where do I splice this wire into?Someone mentioned wiring in a 380ohm resistor then to a switched 12v, does this sound right?

There are two different ways to do it. You can run the red wire from the alternator plug to pin 15 on pcm connector C2 for the factory hookup, or you can run a switched 12V wire through a 470 ohm resistor to the red wire on the alternator. Either way will work.

470? Just trying to make sure cuz the guy who built the harness said between 380-400, and I know the 98pcms were different. Also, how would I go about running it to that pin? Is there a special way to do it?

If you use the resistor method, it won't run to the pcm. It will be switched 12V from a fuse panel to the alternator. That will probably be the easiest way to make it work. There have been a lot of posts about this very problem in the conversion section.

Ok. now about the resistor. I was told by the guy to use a 380-400ohm resistor.

The 470 rating ohm comes straight from John at Speartech, plus, I had mine setup like that when it was carbed and it works perfect.
