Missfire - P308 and p300 switching
After the car winter rest here in Sweden, I took it out a few days ago.
After a few minutes the car starts to miss, I take it to my garage and plug in my trouble code reader. Shows me the code p308, cylinder 8 missfire. Try to erase it but it comes back, next time you start the car and read the code, the code is p300, and if you try ones more the code can be p308 again, what does this mean when it's switching like that between the two codes. but it never shows the 2 codes, p300, and 308 at the same time.
Tonight I am gonna lift the car up and of course check the plug and wire on cylinder #8 (gonna be bloody hands
) some tips to make it easy like hell?
The car is stock completly stock, no headers etc. What can it be, coil? plugs wires? or can they be more.?
And wich of the 2 codes should i follow , p308?
Excause me for my bad english.
Jocke from Sweden
means the sum of all misfires is high enough to bother, the
P0308 means you have one that is a major contributor. A
specific complaint is always easier to root out and stands
a chance of fixing the general one.
I'd begin with plug wire and check that the plug insulator is
not cracked. Coil end of the plug wire too. In the dark look
for stray spark and listen for a sharp tick in the area of #8.
