Also be sure to visit the respective forums so you can ask the vendors specific questions about thier products. This should give you a very good idea of which application will best suite your needs.

+1. if your new to tunning this is the system for you. instant adjustments (no pressing burn every time you want to change something), no stopping and shutting off the car to find out the adjustment made it worse. the RTACS is just badass.

Guys does EFI + RoadRunner really offer any benefits over HP Tuners with RTT, that could justify the cost?
I'm also trying to choose between one of the systems. I just know that I want real-time tuning, because stopping, shutting down the engine and burning image for hundreds of times is stupid.

EFI + roadrunner does offer the benifit of matching a commanded A/F by itself with the input of a wideband (it learns itself). HpTuners can do this, but you have to copy and paste a little info, which i've heard is very easy(kinda like putting numbers into a calc). this is my understanding anyways.
i am also deciding which to get. i know i will be getting wideband plus a tuning software. but which one?
I have a laptop that i can carry with me so portability of the device isn't a concern. (i see efilive is easily flashed without a laptop)
I will eventually be boosting my car so would HP Tuners be adequate or is the RR software the only way to go?

I think you'll find our 1 bar maf with RTT & 2/3 bar mafless with RTT systems are more than adequate for forced induction applications.

I've got EFlive on the way. Yes, EFlive accepts the 0-5v input from a Wide band 02 sensor w/o the RR. I'm not pushing one Brand over another, but, will comment on why I went w/ EFlive. The HP tuners people did a good job of getting me contact information so that pre-purchase information could be obtained. The deciding factor was the availability of an initial tune & the short delivery time. It was important for me to have an experienced tuner provide a ballpark tune, based on my spec's., to get things started. Not that HP tuners couldn't have done this, it just wasn't available within my time frame. For me, it was that simple.
Not that I have seen. 97-98 TCS uses the UART data wire to communicate with the pcm. When you do the swap, the 99+ pcm doesn't use UART at all so there isn't even a pin to hook that wire to. The 99+ use class 2 data line I believe. You would probably have to switch your abs module over to a 99+.
hp tuners here, go check out there forums and see the great support. a great bunch of guys on there to help out a newb. and i like the pricing structure better. and unless you have a 98 there is plenty of support for custom OS for all the boost you want to run. not that you cant boost a 98 but you dont have as many options for custom OS or RTT in 98 pcm's due to lack of RAM
i guess im just old school....... ive been driving high hp cars without TC for years in the snow...... only car i have had with it was a lt1 car with the big *** motor on the throttle cable that kicked the gas pedel back at yeah. i hated that ****...... i did wieght reduction on that basterd real quick
I voted for HPTuners as I know a lot of people with GM products not just f-bodies. I have almost made up the money I've spent with just a few cars I've done little things to. Few emission codes that pop up, a couple speed limiters. Little stuff thats easy to do that puts a few dollars in my pocket. About to doodle around in my GF's Grand Am GT that she picked up if she wants to toss a 3500 topend on it. A little smoothing out and she'll be a happy customer as well.
