and how much of a gain in power do people generally recieve by switching to SD?

0-5 hp or so for most NA applications.

Hmm, interesting.. From what I understand, they should be about the same if the tune is right. But if you're pushing high numbers you'll need to upgrade your MAF in order to keep it from being a restriction?

Ultra retard, newbie, "I don't know how to tune" question...

What's the point of the MAF when it's stock with a 1-bar MAP in a NA setup? If you can run just a 1-bar MAP and no MAF and can run in SD mode... Why didn't GM not just do that from the factory? Why add the MAF?

Emissions & ease of calibration, when the maf does most of the work & you don't need to fine tune a VE table for every rpm/map point its probably a huge cost savings for them in the long run.
