Default Black smoke from the tail pipes when I nail the throttle from a roll

What could this be? I was told black smoke means its running really rich. Oil is white smoke, correct?

No smoke if I nail it off the line, only when I'm already rolling (45mph or faster) do I put out a continuous trail of black smoke while I'm on the throttle and accelerating hard from a roll.

I mean a big cloud too. Where I will lose sight of a car just a few lengths behind me.

Can a tune change on its own and run rich?

427ci, ported LS6 heads, LS6 intake, 1 7/8" LT's, dyno tuned 5 years ago.

That definitely sounds too rich but it is odd that you'd see it only under certain conditions (e.g. the rolling start).

Have you pulled a plug to see how they look?

I changed the plugs about 1 month ago, they all looked normal. But even after the new plugs went in it did the same exact thing.

Maybe an Auto Tap would tell me something????

it will tell you a lot, provided you hook up a WBO2 with it.
it will not be able to make any changes to the ECU though.

whats a WBO2?

Is that where a wire is hooked up to a bung in the exhaust system a few feet back from where the pipes merge? Because I had one of those put in when I had the car done.
