Default Safe or Not Safe????

ok, from the beginning.......I have a 2000 SS

had ud pulley, 3.5" cat back, lid, free mods, and a tune. Car went 13.01 @111mph with a 2.07 60ft time....yea it was street tires.

Anway I done a 224/227 563/568 on 114 cam and longtubes. Car ran like a raped ape on that same tune....I added a lil to the throttle follower and bumped the idle up some so it would drive a little better.

So I took it back to the guy that tuned it originally and he stuck a rough tune in it....no dyno. The car has been a pig ever since, dont rub much better than it did with the cats and stock cam in it.

My questioon is...........is it ok and safe to run that old tune in it, or will it be too lean? keep in mind that this car is beat on every time it is out....I would rather it be a little slower than picking pieces up off the road.

I hope to get lots of input from this.....thanks in advance!!!

You really don't know without hooking up a wideband. I wouldn't drive it much and definatly wouldn't beat on it without knowing if the AFR is correct.

Default Wideband

I agree with Davex, you need to install a wideband, the best mod you can make to a car, their only about $250 look at the PLX wideband very small unit

This is why I ask the question, if you dont know, post that too, I dont care, ust let me know something.....I may give up on the whole forum thing because it is like pulling teeth to get responses on here! I have alot of knowledge to share, along with several experiences with problems and solutions......that is what I am bringing to the table and I will try to help in every way I can.....Now can some of you do the same! We are not all tuning experts like some of you may be, this is why we are asking, SO how about a little help!

How can anyone tell you it's safe to drive if you can't tell them what your AFR is for normal cruising and PE mode? It sounds like the tune is way off, and your "old" tune wasn't done for your current mods. Most likely it would be lean and not safe. Widebands are not that expensive, much cheaper than a new motor.

Yeah. Get it tuned for how it is now (on a dyno) if you want it to be safe.
